one of our clients wants a tank for storing naptha. The capacity is 900 KL and the dimensions is 11 mts dia and 16 mts height. He wants to have a fixed and floating roof for it. Is it advisable to go in for a tank like that. What is the clearance that has to maintained between the floating roof and side walls to ensure smooth movement up and down.
it is necesary to find out if the consumption criterion benefits the added cost of floating roof. if consumption requires frequent filling and emptying the loss in fluid due to vapourisation may overide the cost of adding floating roof.
There are no specific dimensional tolerances. The requirement is "the floating roof seal has to provide a reasonable seal." The annular space is determined by the sealing system to be used.
