Warranty and Guarantee for Nitrogen Blanketed ADR

Saturday, November 18, 2017   By: karsadi [652] 4 Stars
Dear friends,

We intend to build tank type ADR with AIFR whose operation is equipped with Nitrogen Blanketing gas with pressure following the normal working pressure of Nitrogen and tank to accommodate Naphtha /Mogas with size 200 Ft. diameter x 72 Ft. height.

By following the 15-year minimum tank maintenance period we will establish a minimum tank operation life of 15 years and we expect contractors to guarantee 20 years.
Or maybe there is a phrase that can be suggested so as not to incur the expensive cost that the contractor will offer, Is there any other action to be a reasonable request.
We are again considering the conditions to be asked from the tank contractor and I will use Warranty and Guarantee for 20 years.

Whether from friends can help to provide other suggestions or the right advice and good to achieve the goal in dealing with the contractor.

Thank you in advance and please comment.

Best Regards
Karsadi.

In my experience many, if not all, tank contractors and manufacturers of tank equipment will provided an Extended Warrant.

However like most things in life the devil is in the detail!!!

To satisfy the Terms and Conditions of such an Extended Warranty the customer has to comply with many strict and frequently non-practical requirements. These can include regular inspection by the supplier of the equipment at the customers expense - immediate remedial action on any and all instructions and recommendation from the supplier of the equipment and mostly at customers expense - formal verification that equipment has been operating normally at all times and within any and all guidelines and recommendations of the equipment supplier - etc, etc.

As you can imagine full compliance with any and all of these types of T&Cs is not normally practical and as a result the Extended Warranty is no longer valid!!

Dear Mr. Dunedin
Thanks for the first comment and I am still looking for the main benchmark to achieve a goal of our purpose.
The main purpose of the warranty and guaranty here is a written statement that is expected from the contractor to carry out the construction of the tank construction project which starts from the correct engineering, the selection of prime quality materials and all other activities such as fabrication, handling, construction etc. are carried out according to the design life time as required.
Perhaps among other friends there is an input as an idea for the implementation of intent and intention to achieve with the expected.
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards
Karsadi

The only way you will achieve your goal is to take great care to specify your exact requirements in the Contract given to your contractor. Once the contractor has signed and agreed the Contract then you have their written assurances that they will comply with your requirements. If they do not then you have recourse under the terms and conditions of the Contract. Any letters, written statements, emails, etc. are totally worthless unless they are specifically referred to and included in the Contract.

From your comments and posting on AST and having read them with interest,it seems to me that you and your company could benefit from more general expert contractual and technical advice.

If you can post an email address I will be in touch with you directly with a proposal which I am sure you will find most interesting.

Honeycomb Panel IFR
By: davidr@fast.net [39]

Honeycomb panels used on internal floating roofs are a sandwich construction consisting of an upper and lower skin with core in between. The materials are most often aluminum. In this scenario, the core is usually 0.003 thick aluminum foil expanded to a six sided shape similar to what bees make in their hives, hence the name honeycomb. The top and bottom skins are 0.16 minimum, sometimes as thick as 0.040. The core may be of solid aluminum foil or it may have perforations. The perforations ....   Read All
