    • what should be the Hydrotest Level when used sea water instead of fresh water for Floating Roof Tanks - Saturday, January 22, 2011 - ashishpvnit [634] 1 Stars
      Dear Experts,

As per API 650 Section:7.3.5 Testing Of shell : When used sea water tank shall be filled with water to a level of sea water producing a bottom of shell hoop stress equal to that produced by a FULL HEIGHT fresh water test.

      QUERRY:-
1 What does he mean by FULL HEIGHT ? When tank is Floating roof type it cant be filled up to Full tank Height. It is designed & tested up to design liquid level?
2 Does he mean that hydrotest stress produced when used fresh water up to design liquid level & maintaining the same hydrotest stress using sea water by reducing hydrotest level considering sea water specific gravity?

      Regards
      Ashishpvnit
