Also, depending to the thickness of the metal and the power of the source, it usually doesnt take that long to shoot the x-rays. The hazard is when the source is out to expose the film. The RT crew can set up and get things in position as long as they are not interfering with other work. Depending on how may shots you have and how long it will take, you might be able to work in a site shut-down around lunch to get the shots done or maybe have everyone but the RT crew shutdown early at the end of the day.

Regardless of the source size, I dont like to have any other operations going on around the jobsite when x-rays are being shot. Any extra radiation is bad in my book and there are too many risks of someone accidentally walking to close to it or something happening to the source box causing a release.
