Could you get more specific about the FCAW and if you are considering something like SMAW or maybe GTAW -which I would be surprised because integrity of the gas shield is difficult to maintain in an outdoor environment?FYI- I was on a job several years ago and the contractor was going to weld using FCAW using the Short-Arc method because the supplier believed the welders could cover more footage in a day. The welds were eventually done with the Short Arc method and did not pass PT three-quarters of the time on the roots but would pass RT. Anyhow, the welds were ground-out. Stick to what works.
