I know of one instance where the tank was painted prior to the hydro and it did indeed conceal a leak that was discovered some years later. Yes it was “just” a pin hole. Did it cause any large problems? No. But if you are going to perform a hydro to check the integrity of your tank, don’t just do half the test. Bite the bullet and perform the test as it should be and all can sleep better.
