You could also use other types of threaded couplings or half-couplings. The intent is to cut a small hole in the roof, weld the coupling over it, use that as a cable support point for a sky climber, and then plug it with a threaded steel or plastic plug when completed.

Access arrangements like this should be coordinated with the one doing the work inside. Painter's rails, rolling scaffolds, or manlifts are other options, depending on the configuration.
